Brittany & Chris | Asheville Engagement

This session was definitely the most crazy one I have had to date! Brittany and Chris traveled to Asheville to have their session, so I stayed with my best friend Julia’s mom and made it into a trip with Julia and her baby, Davis. The engagement session was supposed to be at Craggy Gardens, which is a short hike to the top of a mountain area. You have to take the Blue Ridge Parkway to get there, and so we drove about 45 minutes to get to the location, and all of a sudden there was a huge roadblock and the Parkway was just closed off from there. The weather was perfect, we had plenty of time to spare, and we couldn’t even get to the spot we had done all of this planning and traveling for!

About the same time we started to panic and wonder what we were going to do to find a new location, Brittany called me to let me know they were already there too and had seen the roadblock. We had all arrived early enough that we still had time to figure something out – but we didn’t know what because none of us are familiar with the area! Julia called her mom to ask for some backup spot suggestions, and her mom suggested the Biltmore Estate because she has an annual pass and could get in other people for free after 5pm. Long story short, we all traveled to Julia’s mom’s old house (she just moved), parked there, and piled into Julia’s car with Davis’ car seat and road trip balloons and toys for entertainment! We got to the Biltmore Estate and Julia’s mom Martha was able to show us some beautiful spots to take pictures. We ended with sunset in the most beautiful location and used every bit of light we had left.
Brittany and Chris were so laid back and went with the backup plan amazingly – they were so much fun! It all ended up working out perfectly, but I was incredibly thankful for such an understanding and fun couple to experience it with! It was definitely a great way to jump right into getting to know each other. They are an amazing couple and I can’t wait for their big day!
