April 21st marked one year of marriage for us! We decided to celebrate with a staycation at The Fearrington – if you haven’t had a chance to go, it really is quite an experience. It is a historic farm just outside of Chapel Hill. The village has so much charm with lots of little shops and there are so many cute farm animals. I’m obsessed with their black and white fluffy cows! When we went, they had little baby goats, so obviously that’s what I was the most excited about.

Does anyone else get really delighted about staying in a fancy hotel or bed & breakfast?! I love breaking away from the norm and having a chance to feel pampered. The little touches and details that take your experience to the next level are my jam. We arrived to a tray of fresh fruit and a personalize note wishing us a happy anniversary! When we got back to our room after dinner, we had a cute little setup of port wine waiting, along with homemade chocolates on our pillows – so many fun little touches!

We walked around and explored the grounds and then went to fancy tea time at the Fearrington House, which was actually really fun. Now I feel like I need to go to tea all the time. Romain makes fun of me for my love of miniature things, but what’s not to love about tiny tea sandwiches and pastries??

Dinner was of course very elegant – honestly probably one of the most fancy, fine dining experiences we’ve had yet. I still can’t get over the plating of the dishes, everything looked like a piece of art. We did the chef’s tasting, which we love to do because it makes it much more of experience. The chef tells us what we want to eat and you don’t know what’s coming next.

It was such a perfect way to unwind and celebrate our first year together, in this new adventure. I’m so glad I married someone who also finds importance in taking the time to celebrate the milestones. I can’t wait to have so many more adventures in this life with my best friend, although, not all of them need to be this fancy. 😉
