Foodie Friday: Chocolate Dipped Figs with Sea Salt & Cocoa Nibs

This snack is super easy and somewhat healthy because it involves fruit; at least that is what I like to tell myself. Figs have started to pop up a lot at the store, so I figured, let’s make a delicious snack out of them. I tried this with both the black mission and brown Turkish figs and I think the smaller black mission ones were my favorite. I read online recently that ripe, delicious figs are mushy and ugly, which I also found to be true.

I simply cut the figs in half and melted about 4 oz of dark chocolate in the microwave, much to Romain’s horror. 🙂 He prefers the double boiler method, which works nicely, but you can also put the chocolate in a microwave safe bowl and heat for 45 seconds at a time until it’s nice and melted and that worked just fine for me. Then I dipped the figs in the chocolate and topped with sprinkle of cocoa nibs and sea salt. I say don’t skimp on the sea salt, because that salty sweet flavor profile really shines here. If you try it, let me know what you think!
